It’s finally here!  RELEASE DAY!  Happy dance, jumping for joy, and a nervousness that no amount of happiness can make go away.

This day, I’m sure, is the day all writers dream of…seeing their long writing journey come full circle.  For me, this day is a mixture of emotions.  When I write that very first sentence to the distant future when I finally write ‘The End’, I’m creating a fantasy world that feels as real to me as my own life.  I’ve taken this vague idea and these imaginary stick figures that I must breathe life into and flesh out until they are well-rounded (hopefully), relatable (hopefully), characters that will make my readers want to live in this imaginary world with me for that time that they are reading my book.

Then, if I’m fortunate enough to sell my creation, it grows wings and takes flight out into the world.  Haha, or at least, into the minimal group of readers that I’m fortunate to share it with.  This is where the nervousness come in.  What if no one likes my beloved characters?  What if everyone hates my carefully crafted fantasy world?  It’s like sending your child out into the cold-cruel world and hoping they make more friends than enemies on their new adventure.  It’s as scary as it is exciting.

When someone opens one of my books my greatest wish is they will experience every emotion humanly possible.  I want them to feel happy, sad, hopeful, passionate, angry, excited, anxious, and mostly love–all while they are reading the words that I have written on the pages of my book.  If my readers can share all of these emotions with me, then I know I’ve accomplished my goal as a writer.
